This was our final project in Advanced Typography. We were to find an article, develop expressive type to complement the article, and create a printed booklet. I chose an article about the effects of the Three Gorges Dam on the people of China. I used the books themes, type, and colors, to surround the concept of "Damming the Pleas" of the Chinese people. I took various phrases of distress in Mandarin, laser engraved and cut them on to wood, and then used them as stamps. After stamping all sorts of patterns and textures, I scanned the sheets of paper and brought them into Photoshop. This was used as the foundation of expression in my booklet.
